Zecarias “Zack” Fessahazion

It is with great sadness that we write to you of Zecarias’ untimely passing on March 20, 2020.  He has meant so much to so many. He was generous, sincere, hard working, genuine, vibrant, and of deep faith.  He followed his own drummer, building his own business from the ground up through true grit and sheer determination.  He cared for everyone and helped so many throughout his life.  He will be deeply missed.

Saint Anthony, be our patron, our protector, and our advocate in life and in death

During these unprecedented times of lockdown to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak, we are asking that everyone remain at home.  Unfortunately, we are unable to gather for mass, visitation, to pay respects, or any other ceremonies.

We will lay Zecarias to rest this Saturday, March 28, at 10:00AM.  Close family and friends who live locally and would like to follow Zecarias on his last journey to rest may join us in the hearse procession from the funeral home to the cemetery.  Unfortunately, we will need to abide by strict protocol as we are not to interact, and this will be very hard to do at this very emotional time.  Only a few immediate family members will be allowed out from their cars to hear the priest’s committal that will be performed as he is laid to rest.

For those who are interested, you can meet us promptly at 10:00AM this Saturday at Nie Funeral Home (2400 Carpenter Rd, Ann Arbor, MI 48108).  We will stay in our cars and funeral procession flags will be distributed to each car.  We will follow the hearse to St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery (1400 North River Street, Ypsilanti, MI).

This is a difficult time made that much more difficult by the requirements of social distancing, avoiding touching eyes, nose, and mouth, and our inability to grieve together.  However, we must protect one another by remaining in our cars and keeping our distance.

We are planning a proper celebration of life to honor Zecarias hopefully this summer once we are able to safely gather.  If you have a prayer, stories, memories, or photos to share of Zecarias, feel free to comment here or email us at fessahazion@gmail.com so we can collect them.
